First Nations, Métis and Inuit Education: Promising Practices in Fort McMurray

This report provides a summary of the research conducted by four FNMI and Field Services Education Managers to uncover promising practices that have resulted in success for FNMI students in Fort McMurray Catholic Separate School District and Fort McMurray Public School District. The 2012 Accountability Online Reporting Initiative (APORI) measures indicate that First Nations, Métis and Inuit (FNMI) students in Fort McMurray are doing well compared to First Nations, Métis and Inuit students in the rest of the province in specific areas. This resource is focused on professional development for districts and schools and supports a student/classroom connection and Alberta Education program or initiative.
